What electromechanical maintenance covers
Electromechanical work covers any equipment that combines an electrical element with a moving mechanical one. In a factory that means pumps of every type, electric motors, gearboxes, belts, couplings and material handling systems. In a commercial or administrative building it means fire pumps, water booster sets, lifts, air handling units and fans.
These machines share one useful characteristic: their failures are rarely sudden. Rising vibration, a bearing running hot, oil weeping from a gearbox, current draw creeping above its normal band — each of these precedes total failure by weeks or months. Organised electromechanical maintenance catches those signals and deals with them at a planned moment, rather than as an unplanned stop in the middle of a production shift.
Preventive maintenance: the planned work
Preventive maintenance is a set of recurring tasks carried out on a calendar or running-hours basis, whether or not anything is wrong. It covers visual inspection, vibration and temperature readings, oil and grease changes to the manufacturer's specification, alignment checks and belt tensioning, and review of electrical terminations and current loads.
The value is not in any individual task but in the regularity. A written, followed preventive schedule turns maintenance from a reaction into an operating line item you can forecast. And because the work is planned, spares can be staged in advance and the intervention can happen during a scheduled shutdown, instead of triggering an urgent purchase at an urgent price.
At the start of an engagement we review the equipment list and its current condition, then produce a schedule setting out what is done to each machine, how often, and which consumables need to be held. That schedule is handed over and becomes the reference for both sides.
Corrective maintenance and breakdown response
However disciplined the preventive programme, failures still happen. Dealing with one starts with a correct diagnosis: establishing whether the fault sits in the electrical side (motor windings, control panel, overload protection) or the mechanical side (bearings, alignment, gear wear, a loading problem) — because replacing the wrong component simply returns the same failure a few weeks later.
After diagnosis we issue a report setting out the cause, the repair required and the options available — repair in place, removal to a workshop, or replacement where the repair cost approaches that of a new unit. The decision stays with you; our job is to make sure it is an informed one.
Spare parts and consumables
The practical advantage of one party handling both maintenance and supply is that spares stop being a separate problem. When we establish that a specific bearing, coupling or belt is needed, it can be supplied within the same job rather than starting a fresh sourcing and quotation cycle in your procurement department.
We work to the original part number wherever it exists, and to technically equivalent alternatives where the original carries a long lead time or is unavailable. In both cases exactly what will be supplied is confirmed before installation, so there are no surprises on the day.
Recurring maintenance contracts
For facilities with a meaningful equipment count, a recurring contract makes more sense than separate call-outs. The contract defines which equipment is covered, how many visits are included, what falls inside the scope of a visit, and what is priced separately.
The specifics — duration, visit frequency, emergency response time, and whether spare parts are included — are agreed with our team based on your facility, the size of the equipment list and how costly downtime is for you. Whatever is agreed is documented in writing before work begins, so no term rests on a verbal understanding.
