A category that is recurring by nature
Unlike most supply categories, facility supplies are nearly constant in content and vary only in quantity. A company that ordered cleaning chemicals, tissue and waste sacks this month will order substantially the same list next month.
Yet in many companies this category is still handled as a fresh request every time: request quotes, compare, raise a PO, receive goods. Repeating that cycle twelve times a year against an unchanging list is an obvious waste of administrative time.
The alternative is an agreed item list with fixed specifications supplied on a schedule, with periodic review of quantities and pricing. That turns a monthly time sink into an arrangement running in the background.
Cleaning chemicals and equipment
Chemicals cover general detergents, disinfectants, degreasers, floor care products, and glass and washroom cleaners. Selection here is not preference but compatibility: a detergent unsuited to a floor type can strip its protective layer, and a disinfectant at the wrong concentration is either ineffective or damaging to surfaces.
Equipment covers machines, trolleys, manual cleaning tools, mops and floor systems. In larger facilities the choice of equipment matters more than the chemicals, because the difference in a cleaning team's productivity between a suitable tool and an unsuitable one is significant and compounds daily.
Washroom consumables
Tissue products across formats, liquid soap, personal hygiene supplies and dispensers. The sensitive point here is compatibility between dispenser and refill: installed dispensers accept a specific size and format, and changing supplier without checking produces stock that cannot be used.
So we always ask what dispensers are already installed before pricing consumables — or propose changing the system entirely where that is cheaper over the medium term, setting out the arithmetic rather than offering a general recommendation.
Waste management
Waste sacks across sizes and gauges, segregation containers, and internal and external bins. Gauge in particular is usually chosen on price and then costs more: a thin sack that splits under load means double the work and a contaminated area.
Industrial facilities add waste segregation requirements and containers for specific streams. What can be supplied here depends on the nature of your waste and is confirmed when the request is reviewed.
Who this category serves
Facility management companies operating multiple sites and needing consistency across them. Hotels and restaurants, where cleanliness is part of the product rather than a support service. Offices and branch networks. And factories, which combine general cleaning requirements with production-area hygiene.
For multi-site operations the clearest benefit is standardising specification and price across locations, instead of each site buying independently to different specifications at different prices.
Concentration and correct use
More than half the complaints about cleaning chemicals come down to how they were used rather than the product. A concentrate used undiluted consumes several times the necessary quantity and can damage the surface; one diluted too far appears ineffective, so more of it gets used.
So we set out dilution ratios and suggested use alongside concentrated products, and generally favour concentrates over ready-to-use in high-consumption facilities, because they are cheaper per use and lighter on storage and transport — provided use is disciplined.
Where the cleaning team turns over frequently or is contracted out, simplicity of use matters more than the product's theoretical efficiency, and that is a factor we build into the recommendation.
